the farmhouse

la aldea farmhouse

Our farm is located in the heart of the Colombian coffee zone, in the middle of an exuberant coffee plantation. The house is a reinterpretation of rural architecture that combines traditional elements of the countryside with luxury finishes. The house is designed so that each room has a different view of the Andes and the Quindian landscape, cataloged as an intangible heritage of humanity by UNESCO. It has capacity for 6 adults and two small beds for children.

Architect: Santiago Pradilla, winner of the XXIV biennial of architecture, Colombia.

Year of construction of the house: 2014

our rooms

As small coffee growers, we baptize each of the rooms in our house as a type of coffee to pay tribute.

arabica

This is the main room, located in the top floor of the house and having it´s own private bathroom. It has a double bed and we can accommodate a baby cot or small bed for a child as well in it.

caturra

It´s our smallest but most charming room. It has a double bed and shares the independent gorgeous open-air shower and bathroom with Pacamara.

pacamara

This is our biggest room, located in the first floor of the house. It is an independent module meaning full privacy from the rest of the house. It has a double bed and two small beds ideal for kids. It shares a beautiful bathroom which has an open air shower with Caturra, our smallest room.

DESIgn

Inspired by the coffee farming homes of Quindío, this discreet house with a hipped roof plays to continuously blur the boundaries between inside and outside. Taking advantage of the pleasant climate of the coffee zone, in this house without glass, each space is understood by how it relates to the exterior.

Thus, the living room, is the only space that looks at the coffee plantation from the ideal height, the narrow and long dining room opens towards the ravine, distant, the patio cuts out and invites to look at a fragment of the sky, the kitchen and its terrace enjoy the view to the west and the main room is the only one that faces the sun that rises.

The contrast of the upper and lower floors is cozy. Down is always outside between organic pieces that show and hide visuals, pieces that in turn make up exterior spaces and contain independent living spaces that are functionally ideal for a farm that should be used in pieces. And, as an articulating center, a Yarumo tree grows in the middle of the house.

The price per night for the entire house is between 200 and 300 dollars per night, depending on the season.
